According to analytics firm Flurry, in 2017, U.S. consumers spent up to five hours per day on mobile devices. This means we’re spending more and more time scrolling through newsfeeds, listening to that new track and sharing real-time experiences with friends and followers. We’ve put together a list of must-have apps for your digital repertoire in 2018.

Instagram announced its new IGTV app for Android and iOS, creating a new space for longer form videos. Certain accounts will be able to post videos that are up to one hour in length. However, most will be capped at 10 minutes. IGTV content will begin playing immediately upon opening. It will contain vertically-formatted content ideal for mobile use.

Google Flights

While not technically an app, Google Flights is a great way to quickly check on one-way, multi-city or round-trip airfares. The best part: users can explore destinations based on price, and as Alaskans, we know how to sniff out a good travel deal.

Alaska Grown

Food and travel are quickly becoming synonymous. There’s no better way to incorporate both in Alaska than with the Alaska Division of Agriculture’s new Alaska Grown app for both iOS and Android. The app aims to provide users with unique information. You’ll be able to see which restaurants in Alaska have menus featuring Alaska Grown products.

If you haven’t already, upping your photo game in 2018 is paramount, and VSCO can help with that. VSCO (Android and iOS) has been around since 2011. It is a tried-and-true photo editing app that can take your photos to the next level. The app allows users to edit their photos through preset filters. If you really want to get creative it has a toolkit feature that has finer adjustment options.

Sanity & Self

Finally, we can always use some extra help when it comes to self-care, and the new Sanity & Self app, specifically designed for women, can do just that. While currently only available in iOS, the app features an in-app community page, as well as sessions that are organized under categories like Energize, Flourish, Treat Yo’Self and Calm, to name a few.
