Working closely with Icy Strait Point’s executives, Thompson & Co. has been involved in everything from Icy Strait Point’s first sustainable travel award to its rebranding campaign and all of its media pitches, press releases and press kits since 2007. The Alaska Native-owned cruise ship destination is located on Chichagof Island, 50 miles west of Juneau, and is adjacent to the Tlingit village of Hoonah. It is privately owned by Huna Totem Corporation, the Native village corporation that represents the Tlingit people who live in Hoonah and the Glacier Bay area. Thompson & Co. also represents the corporation’s Alaska Native Voices department, which offers cultural programs on the Tlingit people and culture to Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve visitors. In May 2013, Alaska Native Voices began providing business guidance to other Native groups around the world seeking to develop cultural heritage programs through training, consulting and business development plans.
